Allergology is the medical speciality concerned with the knowledge, diagnosis and treatment of disorders caused by immunological mechanisms, particularly hypersensitivity, using the techniques specific to the field.

It is a multidisciplinary speciality with a broad scope, covering the study of disorders located in different organs or systems (respiratory tract,digestive tract, skin, etc.), as well as generalised disorders.

It provides treatment for people with allergies, who are characterised by an exaggerated response to small amounts of a substance that is harmless to most of the population (dust,pollen, animals, etc.).
