Tips for returning to routine with joy
September is the month of new beginnings. Children go back to school, the classes we usually reserve for our leisure time return, universities open their doors again, and the summer laziness gradually gives way to the routine that will accompany us until next June, with small breaks like Christmas or Easter.
Do you know what to do to return to the routine with joy?
Whether September fills you with energy or exhausts you just thinking about it, here are some tips to help you return to your daily life in the best possible mood.
1. As almost always, attitude is everything. Try to be positive when you wake up in the morning and think about the happy moments that await you throughout the day. It's been proven that it's more productive to focus on the good things of the day than to start by making endless to-do lists.
2. Start a new project that excites you. This is the key to maintaining motivation and a positive attitude. So, it may be time to start that professional or personal project and focus on making it a reality.
3. Be flexible and don't overfill your schedule. In other words, allow yourself moments of adaptation. So, forget about cramming your days with activities to avoid depleting the energy reserves you've accumulated during the summer. Routine should be resumed gradually, and this advice applies to both children and adults.
4. September and October are perfect months to return to a healthy diet. In summer, it's logical to indulge a bit. Ice creams, snacking dinners, a drink, a cocktail... they can disrupt your diet a bit. It's a great idea to include energy-boosting foods like fruits, vegetables, fish, or legumes in the family's meals.
Returning to Routine for Children and Youngsters
For them, too, these are moments of restart and return. If you want to make it easier for them, you can follow these tips:
- Regain sleep schedules: Experts recommend conditioning children's bedtime and wake-up times at least a week before the start of school. This way, when the first days of class arrive, the early rising won't be as difficult.
- Involving children in the preparation for the new school year is always a good idea. Reorganizing their rooms and study spaces, buying new supplies, preparing uniforms or everyday clothes... it helps them view the upcoming routine in a more positive light.
- You should also return to the usual schedules for breakfast, lunch, snack, and dinner. It's one of the most effective ways to get back into the daily routine and reestablish habits and normalcy at home.
- Maintaining order and completing tasks and homework are responsibilities of the children. Having them tidy their rooms before or after studying, ensuring they complete all the tasks assigned to them, and encouraging them to read a good book for a while are very healthy habits for both the present and the future.
