Joan Aguiló brings summer to the pediatric area of Juaneda Miramar

Going to the pediatrician is not always the best option for the family's youngest members. That is why, in order to make each visit more enjoyable, the idea of transferring a little piece of summer, of sea, water, vacations, and freedom to the walls of Juaneda Miramar was born.

Joan Aguiló, one of the most renowned and beloved muralists and painters of the Balearic Islands, was in charge of adding a touch of color to the new pediatric ward of Juaneda Miramar Hospital.

The artist began the creative process with a first visit in which he analyzed the space and all of the possibilities he had in terms of light, size, and the meaning he wanted to convey to the work.

After weighing the pros and cons, he chose two areas to work on: the waiting room and the lobby. Two spaces that could dialogue with each other so that a link could be established between the two spaces and thus bring calm and disconnection to all the patients.

After choosing the areas that would host the two paintings, Joan was determined that he needed to add a bit of freshness and joy, transforming two white walls and offering images that would make children travel far away from that hospital ward. Joan Aguiló decided that, through his paintings, he would make them travel to the happiest summers of their lives. Through the painting, children are transported to those summers full of sun, salt, family and free time, swimming and beach buckets to build castles and stories with.

Through his paintings, Joan Aguiló has been able to remind us of happy moments in our lives and our childhood. He has achieved a perfect balance of expressiveness and hyperrealism in two large figurative paintings.
