How should children brush their teeth?

The advice of our specialists is that even before the first tooth appears, parents should start cleaning the gums with a damp gauze. This prevents bacteria and keeps the gums clean and healthy, prepared for tooth eruption.

As for brushing itself, it is advisable to start when the first tooth appears. But how should they do it?

It is very important to note that there are two types of toothbrushes: electric and manual. And of course, the technique for brushing teeth will be different depending on which of the two our children are using.

If you have decided on the electric brush, you have to let it rest on each tooth for a few seconds due to its oscillating and rotating movement and always follow the row of teeth. We will start with the lower teeth on the back and front side and then continue with the teeth in the upper jaw and repeat the same process.

The second technique, traditional or manual brushing, involves drawing circles around the teeth.

When children are very little, they usually find it difficult to form a circle. Therefore, they can brush horizontally - by opening their mouths a little to reach the occlusal parts - and the parents take care of the rotating brushing. It is very important that adults brush all of their teeth, as children usually do not reach the molars. We must also never forget to brush their tongues.
