Cardiology at Juaneda

Nowadays, the leading cause of death in Spain, above pathologies such as cancer, accidents or viral diseases, is suffering from a cardiovascular disease. According to the Spanish Society of Cardiology, every year more than 50,000 people die of myocardial infarction.

The risk factors in everyday life such as cholesterol, smoking, diabetes or hypertension together with a sedentary lifestyle and an increase in personal stress are catalysts for cardiovascular diseases.

At Juaneda, we have a team of professionals with many years of experience in the profession and extensive training in different areas of the speciality. In our hospitals and associated centres we guarantee you a personalised cardiology service provided by expert cardiologists who will help you with the diagnosis and treatment of any heart disease.

How do I know if I should contact a cardiology expert?

 - You feel that your heart is beating very fast and you have tachycardias.
 - You feel pressure or pain in the chest area.
 - You suffer from an elevated cardiac risk factor (hypertension, cholesterol, etc.).
 - You have recently suffered dizziness or involuntary loss of consciousness.
 - If you have any kind of imbalance when taking an electrocardiogram.
 - If your general practitioner has recommended you to be examined by a cardiologist.

Diagnostic procedures

At Juaneda Hospitals and its associated centres, our cardiology team is trained to perform a series of diagnostic procedures to assess cardiac performance and function, and to detect any problematic conditions or heart disease.

  • Two-dimensional echocardiogram - colour and 2D Doppler: A painless, non-invasive test that uses ultrasound to create images of the heart and blood vessels. It provides a real-time view of the heart. It is a tool for monitoring and follow-up of operated patients.

  • Electrocardiogram: A simple, painless procedure that measures the electrical activity of the heart. Useful for finding and monitoring various heart diseases such as arrhythmias, heart damage or heart failure.

  • Ergometry: Consists of performing physical exercise on a treadmill for diagnostic purposes. It has the capacity to reveal cardiovascular alterations that are not present while the patient is at rest.

  • Holter: Diagnostic technique characterised by recording heart rhythm alterations from 24 to 48 hours in order to collect real and complete data from the patient for subsequent visualisation and analysis.
